Abstract

The best fats are those that contain he essential fatly acids. Omega-3 fatty acids at essential fatty acids. They art essential for human health but ore not synthesieed in Inc body. They must be obtained from road. Essential fatty adds arc polyunsaturated and grouped into two families. the omega-6 Eudinial Fatty Acida and the omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids (Elea. Seemingly minor differences in their molecular structure make the two EFA families all very differently in Inc body. While the metabolic products of omega-6 acids promote inflammation, blood clotting, and urmour growth. the omcgm3 acids act entirely opposite'. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to significantly reduce the flak for sudden death caused by cardid antArnias and all-cause moodily in patients with known coronary heart disease'. Although we do need both omegar3s and omega-6s. it is booming increasingly clear that an excess of omega-6 fatly acids can have dire consequences. Many scientists believe ihat a major reason for the high incidence of heart didase, hypenension, diabetes, obesity. premature aging, and some forma of uncer is the profound imbalance between our intake of omega.6 .1 omega-3 fatty acids.. Our ancestors evolved on a diet with ratio of oinega-6 to omega-3 of about A massive change in dietary habits over Or last few centuries has changed this ratio to something closer to 20:1 and this spells trouble.
