Abstract
Ulcerative colitis, a chronic disorder of relapse and remissions of large intestine. UC can occur at any age even in early childhood but it often has its onset in older children and young adultl. It occurs in male and female equally and appears to run in same family. Approximately 20% of UC develops symptoms in children and teenagers (less than 18 years)2. The development of UC in early life has implications that are not encountered in adults. Clinician caring for children with UC not only must treat the underlying disease and its complication but must also carefully monitor growth, development and puberty. The presentation in children is similar to that of adults and may be mild, severe or anywhere in between.
